William A. Mahon, 95, passed away Sunday, July3, 2016 at his home. William was born February 5, 1921 to William and Margaret Mahon in Rockford, Illinois. He was a WWII Army Veteran. William married Barbara E. Lange on January 25, 1947 in Jacksonville, Florida. She preceded him in death on June 16, 2012. He worked as an electrician at Northern Illinois University for 17 years; a job he truly enjoyed. William was an accomplished horse trainer and a three year state champion in horsemanship.

William is survived by his four children: Daniel Mahon of Davis Junction, Gary Mahon of Byron, IL, Dennis Mahon of Bruceton Mills, West Virginia and Margie Mahon of Davis Junction; sister, Margaret Murphy; grandson, William (Kaycee) Mahon and great-grandson, Clayton Mahon.

The funeral service will be 10:00 A.M., Monday, July 11, 2016 at St. Mary's Catholic Church, 220 E. Second St., Byron, IL, with Father Howard Barch officiating. The visitation will be on hour prior to the service, 9:00 - 10:00 A.M. Burial will follow the service at Lindenwood Cemetery in Lindenwood, IL.
