William "Bill" H. Middaugh, 69, of Rochelle, passed away on Wed., May 21, 2008 at
University Hospital in Madison, WI. He was born on June 3, 1938 in Sandwich, IL
the son of Malcolm K. and Helen M. (Dillon) Middaugh. He attended Sandwich Schools. In 1956 he joined the US Air Force and trained as a pneudralic technician. Bill went to Japan in 1956 and returned in 1958. He then spent 7 years at Clinton-Sherman A.F. Base in Oklahoma.
Bill met Carol Craig in Waterman in 1960 and they were married in 1961 in Lee, IL. In 1966, he went to Ben Hoa Viet Nam for a year. After returning to the US, he spent 6 years at Clovis
A.F. Base in New Mexico. Spent 1 year in Thailand working on air craft flying into Viet Nam.
Bill returned to Clovis in N.M., and retired on Feb. 1, 1976. Bill, Carol and 3 children moved to
Greeley, CO until 1998 when they relocated to Rochelle, IL.
He was employed as an over the road truck driver for many years. He also worked as a unit clerk for Swedish American Hospital in Rockford until he was diagnosed with cancer in 2001.
Preceding him were his parents and a brother: Robert.
Survivors include his wife Carol of Rochelle,2 sons: Kyle Middaugh of Rochelle and Kenneth (Diane) Middaugh of Nebraska; a daughter: Ladonna (John) Buttery of Rochelle; grandson: Zachary Middaugh; 4 step grandchildren: Robin, Jeremy, Christopher, and Jennifer and their children; a sister-in-law: Bonnie Middaugh and nephew: Jamie Middaugh and a great
nephew: Austin.
Funeral Mass will be held at St. James Catholic Church in Lee, IL on Wednesday, May 28th at 11:00 AM with Father Perfecto Vasquez officiating. Visitation will be at Unger-Horner Funeral Home on Tuesday, May 27th from 5 to 8 PM. Cremation will follow with the burial of his cremated remains at St. James Cemetery in Lee, IL. In Lieu of Flowers, memorials to University of Wisconsin Oncology Unit.
