William F. Newton, 87, passed away Wednesday, March 25, 2015 quietly at his home. William was born June 7, 1927 in Reynoldsville, IL to William E. and Gladys (Garrett) Newton. He married Juanita Hall on November 14, 1953 in Mt. Morris, IL. He served our country as a Marine during World War II. William worked for Del Monte as a maintenance supervisor for 30 years.
William was a self-made Renaissance man. He loved doing things himself, building his home with his own two hands and maintaining it with loving care. He was a quiet man with a good heart. He was a great mentor to his grandchildren, teaching them many valuable skills that they will always treasure.
He is preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Stacy and James and one sister, Doris Hayes.
William is survived by his wife, Juanita and three daughters: Deborah Evans of Rochelle, Betty (Ronnie) Jones of Rochelle and Lorrie (Keith) Hatfield of Rochelle; two brothers: Ernest (Verlinda) Newton of Cobden, IL and Donald (Lisa) Newton of Springfield, IL; sister, Shirley (James) Jones of Lake of Egypt, IL, seven grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
The funeral service will be 11:00 A.M., Friday, March 27, 2015 at the Unger-Horner Funeral Home, 400 N. 6th St., Rochelle with Chaplain Judy Williams officiating. The visitation will be from 10:00 - 10:45 A.M., Friday, prior to the funeral service. Burial will be at Lawnridge Cemetery in Rochelle. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial gifts to be directed to Serenity Hospice, Oregon, IL.
