Obituary

William H. Parsons, age 94, of Rockford, formerly of Rochelle passed away on Thursday, Jan. 31, 2008 at St. Anthony Medical Center in Rockford, IL. He was born on Dec. 22, 1913 in Sheldon, ND the son of James and Clara Breaw Parsons. Bill married Willie Mae Taylor Nov. 18, 1945 in Mobile, AL.

Memberships include: Rochelle United Methodist Church, Past President and member of Rochelle Rotary Club, Paul Harris Fellow, Founder of Rochelle School Volunteer Program and Director for 11 years, founder of the R.T.H.S. Alumni Assoc., 1985 Rochelle Community Leader and recipient of Those Who Excel award in 1984 given by the Illinois Board of Education. Graduated from R.T.H.S. in 1932. During WW II Bill served in the Army Air Corp.

Survivors include his wife; Willie Mae of Rockford; a son : William T. (Ann) Parsons of Rockford, 2 daughters: Priscilla (David) Salmond of Vincennes, IN and Jennifer Parsons of Lakewood, CO.
1 brother Gerald (Ruth) Parsons of Bloomington, IL
3 grandchildren Susan and Scott Salmond and Amanda Parsons.

Services have changed to 11:00 a.m. THURSDAY Feb. 7, 2008 at Christ United Methodist Church 4509 Highcrest Road Rockford (Due to the Snow storm)
Visitation still Tuesday from 4 to 8 at Unger-Horner Funeral Home 400 N. 6th St. Rochelle. There will also be a visitation on THURSDAY from 10:00 a.m. to service time at the church.

Burial with military rites provided by Rochelle V.F.W. Post 3878, will be held at the Arlington Cemetery in Rockford.

In Lieu of flowers Memorials can be made to Rochelle Twp. High School Alumni Assoc., Rochelle United Methodist Church, or Rochelle School Volunteer Program.
